BEHAVIORAL OBSERVATIONS

Running Record 1: Elby

Child: Elby

Date: 23rd March, 2020

Time: 1:30pm-2:00pm

Place: Preschool

Instructor: Lauren

Observation:

A boy is playing at the table with the plates, trying to figure out what to do with the red round plate, he asks the teacher “I want some colored ones plates”. The teacher walks in and helps him in cutting and shaping the plate. A girl replies “spider webs”. He is cutting the white plate “I want to make one”. He gets up from the table and goes over the counter to get something. When he gets back

He asks series of questions from the instructor upon coming back on table to join other three children. “I got the tape, can you help? Where do we put the tape? How do we do it? Can you help me?” He is observing other children and talking with them while making the spider webs. He is looking distracted by other children’s activities and keeps on asking the instructor about how to make webs. “Is that how we do it?”

Comments:

He can be creative enough for creating the objects; copies the instructor in making the spider webs; clever; follows teacher’s comments; needs assistance frequently. He seems to be the follower here instead of a leader in the activity of spider webs. He is often distracted by the other peer boys, upon observation, it can be seen that he is actively listening to all the instructions given by the class instructor. Soon he asks the instructor to have a spider paint on his face.
