Assessment Task:

The reflective process provides an opportunity for students to deepen their learning. Reflective Journal contains a regular reflection on the concepts presented and discussed in class, specifically their application to your personal, practical knowledge and experience.

This assessment is an individual activity. You need to keep a reflective journal, which you will later use to prepare and submit a written assignment in an essay format. You may be asked to include comments on lectures, performances, and the pre-reading and classroom experience. You may organise your reflection based on any topics covered in the following weeks:

The Leader as a Relationship Builder:

Week 5 - Motivation & Empowerment (Chapter 8)

Week 6 - Leadership Communication & Leading Teams (Chapters 9 & 10) Week 7 - Developing Leadership Diversity (Chapter 11)

Week 8 - Leadership Power and Influence (Chapter 12)

Week 9 - The leader as social architect: Creating a vision and strategic direction (Chapter 13)

The content of the reflection is up to you, although it should be based on the ideas and discussions from class and the relevant assigned readings. As well, several activities and reflection questions will be suggested in each class. Reflective Journal entries must demonstrate the application of course materials to personal and real-life experiences and observations (outside of the classroom) and include an evaluation of those experiences and also the lessons learned.

Important Note: If you do not attend class, you will not be able to submit a comprehensive reflection.

Both parts of this assignment should be submitted online in Moodle.

The assignment MUST be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format. Other formats may not be readable by markers. Please be aware that any assessments submitted in other formats will be considered LATE and will lose marks until it is presented in Word.
