| Overview
Conduct an individual analysis of the macro environment for an internationally operating environmentally sensitive multinational corporation, focusing on opportunities and threats in the chosen industry from ASX 100 or other countries. Utilise internet research, industry reports, media, organisation websites, and annual reports to develop your knowledge and lifelong learning skills. This assessment aims to enhance your understanding of sustainability and global business while fostering key cognitive, critical thinking, creative, communication, and report writing skills, all of which are crucial for your future career success. Learning Outcomes The targeted Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) for this assessment are: · CLO1: Analyse and integrate the various socio-political, ethical, regulatory, technological and environmental issues affecting the operations of multinational corporations in the global marketplace and reflect on the impact of international business on sustainability from a historical perspective. · CLO4: Research and apply an advanced and integrated body of knowledge and skills ethically and professionally to managing sustainable international business practices for multinational enterprises. Marking Criteria This assessment will measure your ability to: · understand and describe the strategic background of the company · conduct the macro-environment analysis professionally in terms of comprehensiveness, depth, and insightfulness · communicate research findings in writing to key stakeholders Assessment Details You will work individually to conduct an analysis of macro environment surrounding an internationally operating organisation of your choice and write a report on this analysis. Please note that this report will focus on the opportunities and threats surrounding the organisation and the industry selected. You are strongly encouraged to select a multinational corporation operating in the environmentally sensitive industries, such as mining, oil and gas, cement, steel, renewable energy, electric vehicle (EV), recycling and waste management, etc. You are required to conduct an analysis of the macro environment surrounding the organisation (note: you may select a business organisation/corporation with international operations from ASX 100, or other countries, and focus on ONE industry if it is operating in multiple industries for this Tutoring). You are advised to conduct research such as Internet searching for industry and media reports, and browse the website and annual reports of the organisation selected and other relevant (often competitive) organisations. Write a 1500 (+/- 10%) word report, excluding references and appendix. In this report, you are required to perform the following tasks: 1. Describe briefly the general information (strategic context) of the organisation selected. This information should be brief and relevant to the discussion of your Tutoring and thus may include its revenue, profit, growth rate, number of people employed and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. 2. Conduct a macro-environment analysis for the entire industry within which the organisation selected is operating. It can be primarily concentrated on the national (domestic) macro-environment, but also considers the influence of global business environment. You should use the analytical framework discussed in this course. Foci will be placed on the understanding of the purpose of this analysis, the identification of key factors and changes (key drivers of change) and their implications in terms of key opportunities and threats. 3. Discuss the overall impact of the opportunities and threats on the sustainable development for the industry and the organisation in the future. Draw your conclusion based on your environment analysis. References should be utilised within this Report to validate the information presented, and should be drawn from both academic sources and the Internet. It is important that the Tutoring reflects the student’s own understanding of relevant literature. An effective integration of these materials into the discussion is also vital that could primarily be achieved through the use of appropriate referencing. Thus, at least 6 (six) academic references MUST be cited along with other non-academic references such as articles from periodicals, newspapers and web pages. Please note that no executive summary is required for this report. Learning outcome/s and capability development This assessment is deliberately designed not only to test what you know, but also to build your lifelong learning skills. The skills that you will be developing include: · cognitive conceptualisation skills · critical thinking and analysis skills · creative application skills. All these are valuable skills you will need in future employment. How well you are able to demonstrate these skills and knowledges will impact not only on your marks but also has the potential to influence the future of your Tutorings. Your work matters. Specifically, completing this Tutoring can help you develop your capabilities in the following areas: · Understanding of the major development in sustainability and global business in terms of key concepts, models, theories, and analytical frameworks covered from the relevant Modules (1-4) in this course; · Developing your ability to apply key concepts and theories in international business and sustainable development to the industry selected, particularly in understanding its future strategic position in relations to opportunities and threats from a sustainable development perspective; · Enhancing your capability in critical think through evaluating relevant key concepts, analytical frameworks, and theories; and · Developing your generic skills for pursuing your professional career in the areas of communication and report writing. Advisory notes for this Tutoring · You should conduct an extensive information search on the organisation and the industry selected. · Industry reports, company websites, and media reports are important sources of such information, but their objectives, and thus credibility, should be carefully analysed and evaluated. · You should use appropriate concepts and analytical tools in your report. · The report should be written in prose; however limited use of dot points is acceptable. · This advice should be read in conjunction with RMIT assessment policy and the course guide. Guide for Tutoring presentation Written Tutorings must be presented in a professional format. Quality of presentation, especially literacy, will be considered in the marking criteria. Written communication skills are an essential component of RMIT University’s courses. In line with RMIT policy, all sources of information must be fully referenced using standard APA or Harvard referencing systems. You are encouraged to use referencing software such as Endnote for referencing and formatting. The Tutoring should be in report format and use Times New Roman font size 12, 1.5 line spacing. Tutoring submission You are required to submit your Tutoring online. Please submit it via the course canvas and note: · Submit your Tutoring into the final submission link in the Course Canvas.
