Overall description of the plan

This training program aims to guide the academic and professional staff at the A & J university to improve their health and wellbeing at their workplace. The training uses different modes and methods of delivering information, evidence based strategies, interventions and health and wellbeing knowledge to the audience. These methods include interactive workshops, mindfulness and meditation sessions, and some e-modules guide and reflective journaling activity. These off the job and digital learning methods have been used to ensure maximum effectiveness of the training program, by helping audience to retain information much effectively. The outcomes of the plan are evaluated using the Kirkpatrick’s model of evaluation, where the level 1 and 2, which is about reaction and learning has been included and is intended to be evaluated using survey forms at both kevels.

Training objective:

To help the academic and professional staff at the A & J university achieve health and wellbeing stability, by guiding them with evidence based strategies to manage their health and wellbeing at workplace.

Training methods:

To achieve the objective of this plan, off the job training and technology based training methods have been selected. According to Gopal and Ali (2023) off-the-job training is conducted apart from the actual workplace of the employees, top avoid distractions to help them concentrate better on the learning aspect. The training method also involves the use digital media, which is a form of digital learning, used widely for training programs at an organisational level for increased engagement and motivation of the audience (Zafar & Aleem, 2023).

The training methods, selected for this plan are as follows:

Engaging workshops:

Workshop is one of the method for off-the job training, as it will be conducted in a space which is not the actual workplace of the employees, which could be either a meeting room, or a seminar room, auditorium etc. The speakers/facilitators will conduct a 1.5-hour workshop session where they will introduce the importance of managing health and wellbeing. This will be the introductory class, and key concepts such as mental, physical and emotional wellbeing and their further aspects will be discussed. As this workshop will be interactive, the facilitators will provide case studies and scenarios to the employees related to burnout, exhaustion etc and will ask the employees for their output, to keep them engaged and active throughout the learning session. The workshop will cater to open ended questions where employees would be given full opportunities to present and discuss their thoughts with the facilitators. The facilitators will present the key concepts using multimedia presentations, so it will also be a form of technology-based training method.

Workshops have been selected as one of the training methods because according to Abrahams et al. (2024), workshops are considered as highly effective methods pf learning and development process, as it actively engages the employees and make them learn the concepts deeply. These kind of training sessions allows the employees to retain the information easily and enables them to apply the knowledge gained, into practical scenarios due to the retention of information.

Mindfulness and mediation sessions:

This training method will guide the participants with mindfulness and mediation practices such as breathing exercises and practising yoga on daily basis to improve their focus and health. This session will be conducted in an open space, and will be instructor led training, where the facilitator will teach gentle meditational practices, mindful communication and discussion. The instructor will also inform about the exercises to maintain posture while at working. This mindfulness training program is effective as it is used in organisations as an effective intervention to improve the health and wellbeing of the employees in their work settings (Johnson et al., 2020). This method will also be a form of experiential learning, as the employees will learn through hands-on practice.

Online modules and reflective journaling:

This will be a digital learning method for employees, where employees will be provided with useful knowledge and resources through digital means. According to Dooley (2022) this method is being used by organisations as an effective strategy to train employees. The use of online modules and e-learning materials has also been said to be effective for increasing awareness and engagement of the employees, as this strategy has been experimented on a group of university students and teachers to promote health and wellbeing. The results of the experiment were effective (Ricci et al., 2022). Moreover, reflective journaling has also been a promising intervention to develop sense of self-awareness among employees and helps them deal with burnout and depression. Reflective journal is used by organisations for training about health and wellbeing (Langan & Keppen, 2022). The online modules will be introduced to the employees for deeper insights on self-awareness and maintaining health and wellbeing. After a brief informative e-module session, reflective journals will be distributed among employees, where they will be asked to reflect upon their stress triggers and emotions. This will allow employees to regulate their emotions and practice self-wellbeing.
