Purpose

Develop the Part III of International Transport and Logistics Report – International logistics arrangements.

Task details

In Assessment 2, you proposed the international logistics solution to your business. In this assessment (Assessment 3), you are required to

• Identify an overarching part of your proposed logistics solution in Assessment 2, normally one of the logistics functions/activities/roles below:
  • Marine transportation
  • Air transportation
  • Multimodal transport
  • Cargo Warehousing and Consolidation
  • Logistics services outsourcing
  • Logistics Collaborations
  • Cargo insurance
• Conduct an in-depth critical analysis towards the chosen logistics function/activity/role, in your Section 4 of your report:
  • 4. Section 4 Title (reflecting your chosen logistics function/activity/role)
    • 4.1 Overview of the logistics function/activity/role: definition, international rules/ standards/ practices that apply to the topic, if applicable, e.g. Hague 1924, Hague-Visby 1968 and Hamburg 1978 in case of sea transportation, or Warsaw 1929 for air transportation, etc.
    • 4.2 A discussion on how the chosen logistics function/activity/role contributes to your business’s international logistics performance in particular and your business’s competitiveness in general. Back up your analysis by relevant literature and real-life examples.
    • 4.3 Discuss relevant sustainability issues associated with the chosen logistics function/activity/role and make recommendations to overcome them.

Instructions

For this component (Section 4 of your report), you should ensure that you draw upon a minimum of 15 readings from the academic literature; a minimum of 8 of these readings must be peer-reviewed academic journal articles in the last five years. The word limit is 2500 words (Section 4 of your report), excluding text in tables, appendices and bibliography.

The assignment needs to be submitted in a form of a complete business report by additionally incorporating your existing work in Assessment 1 and Assessment 2. A recommended organisational structure:

• Title page
• Table of contents
• Executive summary – word limit: 300 words
• Section 1. Introduction [part of Assessment 1]
• Section 2. Contract of sales [part of Assessment 1] – word limit for Sections 1 and 2: 1200 words in total
• Section 3. International Logistics Arrangements [Assessment 2] – word limit: 2400 words
• Section 4. Section 4 Title (reflecting your chosen logistics function/activity/role) – word limit: 2400 words
• Conclusions – word limit: 300 words
• References. A minimum of 40 readings from the academic literature; a minimum of 20 of these readings must be peer-reviewed academic journal articles in the last five years.
