  • Clearly structure analysis (10%)
  • Reference analysis correctly (10%)

Assessment instructions

Assessment Task 1 consists of two components:

Part A - Product supply chain map

You are required to draw a product supply chain map.

Choose a product (e.g. chocolate, butter, toilet paper, book) and identify the major supply chain entities of the product by their geographic locations and indicate the flow of the product through the supply chain.

You may use software such as SmartDraw, Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint to draw the supply chain map.

Part B - Analytical essay

Write an essay on the chosen product supply chain.

  • For each of the entities identified indicate their key roles and the logistical functions they undertake to manage the flow of the product to the end consumers.
  • Explain how each of the entities manages their relationship with their supply chain partners.
  • Based on the configuration of the supply chain developed, explain why the supply chain is complex for this product.
