This assessment is designed to apply the knowledge and skills developed by students in evaluating the role of systems thinking in global and local sustainability challenges. You MUST use the references provided in the reading lists at the end of each topic (in text reference and reference list)
Students are all assigned the same case study/topic (see case attached below), and must answer the following questions in relation to this case:
1. Critically analyse how the case topic is related to sustainability, and why it is important. (400 words)
2. Evaluate why your case topic is a wicked problem. Explain using the 5 characteristics of a wicked problem. (400 words)
3. Based on your answers to questions 1 and 2 above, analyse why current approaches to solving the problem have failed. (200 words)
4. Applying the Iceberg model, explain if and how systems thinking might be useful in addressing the wickedness of the problem. (500 words).
The remaining 500 words are to be allocated to the reference list.
It is Question and Answer format not an essay. Therefore, introduction and conclusions are not required.
Table of contents is not required, but it is acceptable.
Reference list and sources: Students are required to reference from the following resources:
A Minimum of 6 journal articles (students are required to use scholarly and peer-reviewed articles) and textbooks. Please use the list of prescribed and recommended readings for the subject as your first preference.

Company/NGO Websites
