For this task, you will be assessed on the four (4) sub-tasks:

1. Background to the study, including a brief history of Tesla and Twitter and the identification of the ties binding these two companies.
2. A discussion of the reasons given by Elon Musk for the acquisition of Twitter.
3. An explanation for why Elon Musk withdrew his $USD44 billion bid for Twitter in July 2022 and then subsequently completed the acquisition in October 2022.
4. An analysis of the strategic consequences of the acquisition for Twitter, Tesla and Elon Musk.

• Acquisitions are covered in Chapter 7: Acquisition and restructuring strategies of your Hanson et al. (2022) textbook. This subject textbook must be cited at least twice.
