MGTS7603: From Self-Assessment to Strategic Success: A Career Development Plan in HRM

This assessment required the development of a Strategic Career Plan Report aligned with the principles of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM). The report needed to integrate self-assessment findings, SMART goal-setting, career strategies, and development planning with at least 10 peer-reviewed academic sources. The purpose was to reflect critically on personal competencies, strengths, and development areas while designing actionable career goals applicable to a competitive and global job market. The report addressed all required components. It began with an introduction connecting SHRM theories to personal career planning, followed by a self-assessment using the Big Five personality model and STAR framework to identify strengths (e.g., networking and strategic thinking) and areas for development (e.g., labour market analysis). The career goals section applied the SMART model to outline short-term, mid-term, and long-term objectives, supported by practical resources and a plan to overcome challenges. The report also included actionable strategies to build employability and align personal values with professional ethics, adhering to socially responsible HRM principles. A career competency canvas was included in the appendices as required, providing a visual summary of the career story.
