Introduction

Tata Motors is one of the top leading automotive firm in India’s automobile industry. The company is the world’s 4th largest truck manufacturing company (Kumari & Nagarajan, 2015). The company also provides information technology facilities, machine equipment, tools for construction manufacturing and plastic elements for specific applications. Tata Motors has been internationalizing its functions all over the world and has been evolving rapidly, the company export its vehicles all over the world (Garg, 2019) The company is recognized on an international forum due to its quality product. Information system and digital disruption has been introduced by Information Technology for the ease of the individuals. This report will discuss the implementation of these both technologies by the Tata Motors and whether the Indian culture accepts it or not.

Tata Motors is one of the largest companies in India generating a good revenue for the country that helps to increase the GDP of the country. Information system is a new technology in the 21st century that helps to store data/information about the company through technology (Rajendrakumar, Parvati & Ram, 2015). Information System is defined as “an integrated environment of the hardware, software, peoples which mainly functions for the purpose of collecting and processing data to valuable information by applying a list of procedures on data collection, thus information is derived from data by IS procedures, and clears the difference between data and information” (Hasan, 2018, p. 1)

India is now an emerging market for new opportunities in different fields, the individuals in the country are accepting new technologies but slowly and gradually. Dutt and Srite (2005) in their conference paper on the Information System cited few papers that portrayed acceptance of technology by the Indians was different and found out that the acceptance can also be dependent on national basis. Subsequently, through the implementation of the information system in the rural setting of India there was a cultural transformation in that areas but that occurred slowly that is over a period of three to four years. The cultural transformation in the area included a change in the individuals’ awareness of status, order and management, a distribution of control between the nation and the regions and a rise in the utilization of information generated by information technology for making decisions (Leidner & Kayworth, 2006). Tata motors have implemented Management Information System, System Application and Products this helps to manage information regarding logistics, orders, delivery and departments efficiently. The technological plants of the company were previously guided by information systems on the bases of mainframe which then were linked to multiple systems and applications. This led to an increase in costly maintenance and confused system incorporation, through the implementation of the SAP the management of the data has been efficient (Dhingra, 2016). The data is restored and doesn’t require double entry, there was a rise in production, dealers were hired easily and the process of decision making is easier. This shows that the cultural context of India is accepting the use of the information system by the company as the booking of an automobile from Tata Motors have been computerized.
