Context: Making salad together at the table.

Narrative: 

Today, Jay helped to make salad. Firstly, Jay went to the garden to pick herbs for the salad. Jay was excited and keen to explore further into the garden. Eventually, Jay chose to pick chives for his salad.

Jay returned to the table to prepare the salad. First, he diced the cherry tomatoes. This reminded him of the time he made fruit salad during a dark and stormy night. He recounted, “At dinner once, I had fruit salad. A long time ago when it was stormy, we came back from somewhere, and we just had that. That was quick to make.”

“Do you have salad at home?”

This reminded Jay of the fruit salad he made at home. He recounted that it was quick to make. He connected that both types of salads were quick to make.

He sustained interest in the activity. He actively involved himself in the gathering and preparation of ingredients.

Jay recognised that others were gathering parsley, so he looked around for other ingredients to snip off.
